Five $1,000 Scholarships will be awarded to Escondido students

This Scholarship is being offered to 2012 graduating seniors from the Escondido Union High School District: Escondido High School, Orange Glen High School, San Pasqual High School, and Valley High School. In addition, this Scholarship is being offered to a 2012 graduating senior from Escondido Charter High School. One recipient will be chosen from each of the five schools.

The Scholarship will be funded as follows:

Upon furnishing the Escondido Police Officers Association with confirmation of enrollment in the 2012 fall semester at the school their choice, each Scholarship recipient will be paid $1,000.00.

HOW TO QUALIFY:
Scholarship applicants must meet these minimum qualifications to be considered:

  • Must be a current resident of Escondido and enrolled at one of the five schools listed above in good standing
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher at time of application
  • Must have Satisfactory Citizenship rating or higher at the time of application
  • Must perform a minimum of twenty (20) hours of community service at a qualifying non-profit organization (church, synagogue, shelter, food bank, etc.)

HOW TO APPLY:
Complete the attached application or designated application provided by your school’s counseling department (one application is sufficient). Regardless of which application used, you must comply with the requirements below for your application to be considered.

Attach the following documents to your application:

  • Transcripts (official or unofficial) verifying GPA, enrollment, etc.
  • Letter of recommendation from counselor or teacher
  • Community service log or letter from organization where volunteer work was performed
  • One (1) page typed essay (300 words min.) entitled, “What Escondido Public Safety Means to Me”
DEADLINE:
Completed applications and required documents must be mailed and postmarked no later than March 1, 2012.
