ANNOUNCEMENT
FROM THE EPOA
Webster’s Dictionary defines Community as “a unified body of individuals, or people with common interests living in a particular area.” The Escondido Police Officer’s Association (EPOA) believes deeply in our community; so much so, that we made it part of our slogan of “Proudly Serving our Community”. Our Members are made up of Police Officers, Community Service Officers and Public Safety Dispatchers--each committed to providing the very best professional police services to the Escondido community.
However, we won’t stop there because we are committed to ensuring that our community knows we care even when we’re off-duty. That’s why our community outreach has focused on reaching the next generation of Escondidan’s. We demonstrate our support of Escondido’s youth through programs like the Stepping-Up - Youth Academic Mentoring Program, Escondido Police Athletic League (PAL), Family Intervention Team (FIT), and Escondido Public Safety Scholarship. Our members have donated countless hours of their personal time to mentor children, teaching them sports, and most importantly, conveying there is another way of life besides joining a gang. We promote confidence, self-respect, leadership, higher education and responsibility as keys to being a successful citizen.
Last year, the EPOA donated over $20,000 to local programs like the one’s mentioned above. Much of the funds came from our member’s dues collected monthly and re-invested into the community. Additional funds were raised through special programs like the “COPS for KIDS” Charity Golf Tournament and our annual fundraising mailer campaign. We are also partnering with other local groups that support family oriented events like “Cruisin Grand” and a summer concert series.
In addition, the EPOA makes every effort to support our local businesses. We are a member of the Escondido Chamber of Commerce, and participate regularly in Chamber sponsored events. We know the only way for our local business’ to flourish is to support them by doing business in Escondido whenever possible.
In closing, the EPOA members want you to know that we not only care about your safety, but we care about your quality of life. We want you to know that we will always be there to offer our support to Escondido’s children, families and businesses. We look forward to “Proudly Serving our Community” each and every day.
Best Regards,
Michael Garcia - VP
Community Relations Chairman
